It was a normal day when I was checking my email; there was a weird subject of a message sent from a friend of mine. It was in Arabic and, the translation is “Akhtaboot – The Unemployment Eater”. I opened the email; it was a snapshot of the homepage of a website with an article that was written in Arabic. As a computer and internet addict, I didn’t bother to read the article. Directly went to the address of that website and here I started.
I started surfing the website, I figured out that it’s a recruitment website that has an amazing interface with some messy elements that I could easily ignore. For me as a new web developer; I wanted to take a look on how it works and the technology that is used to build it, now I became more impressed.
I couldn’t figure out the programming language that was used to build it, but the AJAX effects were very obvious and amazingly nice.
I haven’t thought at that stage that I would leave my job. It was a good one with some good guys around, but I had no problem to start registering on the website. The big surprise was when I saw that I can upload my resume without taking ages to build it; even though there is a resume builder. But I was someone who is proud of his C.V. Any way, it was uploaded successfully. I closed the browser and went back to my work. After no more than 10 minutes, my mobile phone rang, it was a weird number. I answered; and there was the surprise. The man on the phone introduced himself “someone” from a company who saw my C.V on Akhtaboot!!! I was really shocked to an extent that I couldn’t hide it. We discussed the vacancy he has… blah blah!
Now I’m in love with Akhtaboot, I kept signing in to my account and taking a look on the new stuff on the website until I saw something that’s very interesting for me; “Video Editor at Akhtaboot“. It was a part time job. Simply I clicked the apply button. Two days later, it’s not because Akhtaboot became inefficient; but it was a weekend when I applied for the job, I got a call from someone who introduced himself “someone from Akhtaboot“. We had a short discussion and he figured out that I’m over qualified for the job that I applied to. It was disappointing for me for the first while because we decided to meet for an interview to discuss taking another role in their company (again I haven’t thought of leaving my current job). The next day I went to interview the guys at Akhtaboot, discussed a lot of stuff and I became more impressed. I went out of Akhtaboot, picked my mobile phone, and called my dad telling him “Hello Dad, it seems that I’m leaving my job”.
One month later I became “Kamel Al-Asmar” Web Developer at Akhtaboot the Career Network“. Simply, an amazing position in an amazing company with an amazing team.
