In a country that lacks private audio-visual media, is Jordan TV the appropriate way to represent Jordan globally? I allowed myself to write this review about Jordanian official media.
I know that the main reason for any of the following issues is the shortage in the financial support.
The color encoding system:
One of the most basic things that no one can ignore is the quality of the PAL (Phase Alternating Line) color encoding system; between Jordan TV and any other satellite TV channels just take a look on the difference of the colors! Our official satellite channel is not able yet to broadcast their programs with the true colors according to the PAL system. I’m not an expert in broadcasting and color encoding systems but at least I can see the difference. Anyone can see this bad quality of colors on another 2 channels; Palestine TV (at least they have a TV under all of those circumstances) and Tele Liban that I’m positive that no one in Lebanon or globally will ever think to watch it, in Lebanon they have variety of channels that are good enough to represent the Lebanese media to the world.
Presenters:
The case for the presenters issue is obvious; if they were good, obviously they always get better offers from other channels which means that they will leave their jobs are JRTV to their old colleagues who are their since ages, or that will force the channel to recruit new presenters who lack the main concepts of presenting TV programs with no experience at all.
Advertisements:
There is a lot of disastrous TV ads. that are produced in Jordan and promoted on JRTV. It’s not the channel’s fault but at least the quality control of JRTV (if it’s exist) should prevent that sort of ads. to be aired.
Animation and Jingles:
Have you ever seen the animation before the news on JRTV? If they have the people who have skills to do such as that animation, they could have art directors that are creative enough to merge the skills with the creativity to come out with good stuff! Not only the animation, the jingles and the sound effects are disastrous as well!
We were waiting for ATV to come out, but unfortunately for some reasons it didn’t. So will JRTV ever get the financial aids that are required to make a representable one? Or will we have a private TV station one day that is good enough to show the positive side of our media to the whole world?
