Finally, the long waited MacBook Pro arrived safely from the USA with one of our big Akhtaboots. I never used a Mac with OS X, I took a look on it before but not to an extent to know the structure of the operating system. I’ve started my adventure to see what is Mac and what is OS X. 48 Hours after starting; I can say that it’s something that I have nothing to say about more than AMAZING.
My multi-roles at my work as a developer and designer let me go through it deeply. After installing the Adobe tools on it, I saw how much the way that it’s organized is a source of creativity by itself. Have you taken a look on the colors on a Mac? if not, then you are missing a lot, they look like something that encourage you to start working to see the beauty of your work on it. I can’t believe that I was missing it for the last 23 years of my lift.
Not only the design part, as I knew why the guys who use it for development around me keep saying that Mac is amazing. I have installed Ruby on Rails very simply on it using a very clear and easy to use tutorial. It went very very smoothly, and it also feels different when you start the development process. Terminal, TextMate and all of those stuff are calling you to start using them with the ultimate simplicity, or actually, the sophisticated simplicity. The catchy colors are there also in the code, with a very nice syntax highlighting, you don’t even need to customize it.
Now I understand the meaning of “Windows Sucks”, and I do agree, it sucks especially lately when people became unable to plug the memory stick to the USB in order not to get viruses. The only reason that I will use Windows for is to deal with IE6, the STUPID browser that I do understand CSS better than it.
My old Dell Inspiron 9400 will be my Solaris or Ubuntu new station, and hopefully one day I will stop using Windows forever or until Microsoft understands that working on the track of producing Windows Vista is not the right thing to do at all.
Next plan… iMac
