This is a snippet of the description of Mecca Mall on wikipedia.org!
“Food court
Almost all of the food court area is reserved for families only. The mall management defines families as any group of people that includes at least one woman. A man (or men) sitting on a table in the family section will get accosted by security and asked to leave despite having paid for their meal. This is applicable even if the handful of tables men are allowed to use are all occupied. The mall management justifies this by claiming that young men can’t be trusted to behave themselves around women, and are assumed to be ill-intentioned by default if sitting on a table by themselves or with other men. Moreover based on the same policy, on certain days of the week (particularly on holidays) mall security will prevent male(s) unaccompanied by a woman from even entering the mall.“
I don’t think that this is the best way to describe the food court of Mecca Mall for the people globally! The writer hasn’t even mentioned what kind of restaurants are there, his aim obviously is to mention the bad side of it!
People say that they have to do this because the “nawar” are filling the place on holidays.
Regarding the “nawar”, it’s about culture! but it doesn’t mean that the security guys are acting in a right way there. We are preventing those people from being treated like everyone so we are stopping the development of their personalities and mentalities!
They would rather be more positive! To give the chance to everyone at least at somewhere like Mecca mall; where lots of people can enjoy their time there without paying a lot of money in a country that we’re going to pay to take the oxygen from the air in very soon.

I agree with you Kamel,
Last week my friend a General manager of a contracting company in dubai came to Amman , he went to Mecca Mall and he decided to have some snacks there in the food court but a security man came and ordered him and his friends to leave the food court .because it is only for families or for “7abibeh” couples “ya3ni” .

Kamel, first of all i want to congratulate you on your blog. It seems so organized and includes good subjects.
Secondly, about your post, it’s unfair to mention the food court in this way. The writer doesn’t live in this country and doesn’t know anything about its culture or about the guys who enjoy ruining other’s day.
At least he should have mentioned a positive thing about the food court and a negative thing. This shows that the writer isn’t a professional and looks at a thing from one angle!!
The most important thing is the jordanian people. As long as they’re happy with this rule, no one can change it

Next time just show up with a couple of prostitutes who look ultra-sleazy …that’ll teach them
Actually just kidding I know it doesn’t make sense and the rule applies in different forms in different countries, in Qatar there are family days for malls so you cannot go in if you don’t have a Better half attached to your arm.
Btw it was great meeting you in the summer I just stumbled across this blog and realized its you.
